The Creative Professional: The Practical Application of the Artist in Society
The creative professional is the artist which sells their services in the context of a legitimate business. They maintain the business-side in an orderly and mundane fashion so that they may be violent and artistic when it counts. They differ from other artists in that they take on the added responsibility of serving society, fulfilling it's needs while maintaining their artistic integrity.
They will listen to the client, identify their needs and present them with the appropriate solution. This solution is based on the expertise of the artist and executed in a manner which is consistent with the artist's standards.
Their rates reflect their expertise, business cost and cost of living. In this manner they always charge what they deserve, creative professionals never undersell themselves.Labels: art theory, article, creative, professional |

Creator/Destroyer: The Artist's Manifesto
Artists are not defined by a single role for it may hinder their creative process. They allow themselves to step outside of roles as is necessary of their task.
Artists will tend to the fine details which lay the foundation of the big picture, their work is thorough.
No one has the right to tell an artist anything regarding their work. It is theirs alone to criticize and correct as they see fit.
Their only responsibility to society is to honestly express themselves to the best of their abilities, theirs is an inclination to create and to destroy to meet this end.Labels: art theory, article, creator, destroyer |
