India Ink on 9X12 100lb. Smooth Bristol and Brown pencil,Marker & India Ink on 11x14 Smooth Bristol.

Old drawing, new drawing. This, my friends, is what persistence and hard work yields. The drawing on the left is from 2007 and the drawing on the right is 2009, yesterday.

My brother & mum pointed out that the two drawings shouldn't be compared as they were completed in different styles and therefore had different goals but I pointed out that the drawing on the right was the drawing I was TRYING to make in 2007.

The Studio Tour
Thursday, March 12, 2009 | By German - 4 comments

My humble work area, as minimalist as can be.

I always love seeing how others work and where they work. For whatever reason it is completely fascinating. I'd love to see where y'all work!

In that spirit I want to share my "studio", which basically means that one side of my room. Personally I would love a dedicated studio space one of these days... click here for a larger shot.

Brown pencil on 9X12 93lb. Heavyweight Drawing Paper.

Mike is one of my favorite artists. Every time I look through his sketchbook it's a real treat, he is always very creative and inventive with his designs. I did this doodle based on a drawing Mike did on his blog. I invite you all to check it out sometime.

Brown pencil on 9X12 93lb. Heavyweight Drawing Paper.

Sometimes when I sit down to draw in my sketchbook I have no idea what I am going to do or I only have a faint impression of what I would like to do. There are those other times when I know exactly what I want and I don't even need to think about it. It's just reflex. Those are the fun drawings.

This is one of those reflex drawings. Personally I feel that drawing, the act, should just be reflex to the expression anyways so I'm always satisfied when it happens.

Brown pencil & terra cotta on 9X12 93lb. Heavyweight Drawing Paper.

Despite what the majority of sketches on the blog might say, I like to work with col erase pencils. I use a warm brown spectrum made up of brown, tuscan red, vermilion & terra cotta because I like the impression they create on the natural white paper I draw on.
